Project

LDCIS Sheridan Waterline

Client:

City of Westminster

J&T designed and oversaw the installation of a new waterline in the median of Sheridan Blvd. between 80th Ave and the slope east of Guitar Center just south of Turnpike Drive in Westminster.

This project was ultimately combined with another project that was installing a portion of waterline from 92nd Ave to the same slope east of Guitar Center, and installing new sewer line in traffic lanes from 92nd Ave to 80th Ave. J&T worked with the engineering firm that was responsible for that other project in a combined project management effort. This included combining schedules, budget management, vehicle and pedestrian traffic control plans, and submittal review.

As part of J&T ’s work on the project, detailed waterline isolation and service maps were created for City staff. This helped staff isolate sections of the line for the required night connections. It also helped them confidently maintain service to residents and businesses in the area throughout the project. During construction of the project, the City discovered that they were having difficulty maintaining water pressure. J&T coordinated with the City to test existing waterlines and review
portable water flowmeter placement, pressure monitoring information, and valves operated. Ultimately, to resolve the problem, J&T assisted the City with the installation of piping and a new pressure reducing valve and vault to connect pressure zones 3 and 1. This allowed for the isolation of other portions of waterline and added a safety measure throughout the project.

Due to the location of the utilities in the state highway, traffic control was a very important aspect of this project. Several utility connections, lateral line installations, and paving operations had to be completed overnight.
